Looking for a fun and festive Halloween treat that’s equal parts spooky and sweet? These Peanut Butter Spider Cookies are just the thing! Starting with a classic, soft peanut butter cookie base, they’re topped with mini peanut butter cups to create adorable little spiders — complete with chocolate legs and candy eyes. It’s a simple, kid-friendly recipe that’s perfect for baking with little ones or impressing guests at your Halloween get-together.

If you can’t find candy eyes, don’t worry — a few dots of melted chocolate work just as well for a spooky (and tasty!) alternative. And while the base recipe doesn’t call for icing, feel free to add a bit of store-bought or homemade icing under the spider body for extra sweetness and a little pop of color. Just be sure the cookies are fully cooled before decorating. These cookies are sure to be a hit with kids, grandkids, and anyone young at heart!

Preparation

  1. Preheat the Oven to 350°F. Line one baking sheet with Parchment paper.

  2. Combine butter, browns sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer until well mixed.

  3. Add peanut butter, egg, and vanilla extract, and beat again to combine.

  4. Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix carefully by hand or on low to not poof the powders.

  5. Add additional sugar into a small bowl.

  6. Roll the dough into 24, 1 inch balls. Roll the balls in the sugar to give them a nice sugar coating.

  7. Place balls onto the baking sheet. Use a flat surface such as the bottom of a glass to lightly press down on the balls about halfway, making them into thick disks.

  8. Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.

  9. Once cookies are removed from the oven, let sit for 2 minutes. Then place 1 mini peanut butter cup in the center of each cookie. Allow the cookies to cool completely.

  10. Once the cookies are completely cooled, it is time to decorate! Warm the melting chocolates using the instructions they came with, and insert meted chocolate into a bag. Snip the corner to create a piping bag.

  11. Pipe 8 legs with the melted chocolate, and add 2 candy eyes to each cookie to resemble a spider.

  12. Serve and Enjoy!
