Mulled Apple Cider

qts apple cider or juice
orange (sliced, but not peeled)
cups brown sugar (add more or less to taste, depending on the cider/juice sugar content)
tsp fresh ginger (minced and optional)
anise star (optional)
Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker pot.
Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours, until flavors are well blended (and your kitchen smells like Christmas)!
