French Bread

A classic grocery store bakery staple, you too can make your own French bread right at home! This recipe is especially simple with its use of a bread maker. Give it a try!

cups warm water

tbsp vegetable oil

tbsp sugar

cups flour

tsp salt

oz active dry yeast (1 packet)

Preparation

  1. Place all ingredients in the bread machine pan in the order listed, except

    the yeast.

  2. Make a hole in the top of the flour with a spoon and add the yeast.

  3. Close the lid and select FRENCH BREAD, START.

  4. Remove from pan when done. Let cool 20–30 minutes before slicing.

  5. Makes 1 loaf (approximately 1½–2 lbs.)
