Easy Caramel Apples
Caramel apples may seem intimidating to make by hand, but these easy caramel apples only require two ingredients and take almost no effort! Use a double boiler or fondue pot to melt the caramel. You can also melt caramel on the stove in a big pot, but we’ve found a double boiler easier to handle (and less likely to spit caramel back out at us). This is also a really fun recipe for kids. They’ll love making these easy caramel apples just as much as they’ll love eating them!
14 oz. package of caramel
Water (as per directions on caramel package)
Apples, washed and dried (as many as you’d like)
Candy sprinkles, crushed nuts, and/or chopped candy bars (optional)
- Melt the 14-oz. package of caramel in a double boiler, electric melting pot or fondue pot. Add water per directions on caramel package.
- Remove apple stem and push a wooden stick in the top. Dip apples in the melted caramel, then place them on a cooling rack. Refrigerate for one hour and let stand at room temperature before serving.
- Fun variations: top apples with candy sprinkles, crushed nuts or chopped candy bars before refrigerating. Feeling really indulgent? After apples have cooled, dip them in melted chocolate and cool again before serving.
