Easy Sweet and Beer Deep Fry Batters

Close-up of deep fried Oreo cookies in a sweet batter.

Have you ever been eating one of your favorite meals or snacks and wondered, “I wonder what this would taste like battered and fried?” We sure have here at the Ginny’s House. To feed our imagination (literally), we set up a Fry-Day. Ginny’s Team members brought in their favorite snacks, we heated up the deep fryers, and we fried… everything.

But deep frying isn’t as fun or tasty if you don’t have a good batter. Laura, our customer service liaison, whipped up a sweet batter, and a beer batter to dunk our favorite treats in.

Sweet Batter

2/3 cups flour
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup water
Oil for frying
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 Tbsp. sugar

Stir flour and salt together in a small bowl. Whisk in eggs, 1 Tbsp. oil, milk and water until smooth.

Beer Batter

2 1/2 c. Bisquick®
1/3 c. cornmeal
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
Pepper to taste
12 oz beer

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add beer 4 ounces at a time. Batter will be sticky and not too runny.

We had so much fun hanging out in the kitchen together, frying our favorite foods, and trying a bite of each snack.
