Sheets

What Makes a Great Sheet Set?

Most sheets are cotton, polyester or a combination of the two. Polyester dries faster, but most agree that cotton breathes and feels best. Egyptian cotton is prized for producing silky-soft, yet very durable fiber. The more you wash it, the softer it gets.

Thread count refers to the number of threads in one square inch. Generally, the higher the thread count that sheets have, the higher the quality. Watch out for sheets made with double- or triple-ply thread—this cuts corners and the sheeting is not as nice. All of Ginny's sheet sets are single ply.

Sateen weave has four threads over for every one under, creating a soft and smooth surface. A damask weave creates a very dense cloth that's prized for its substantial and slightly textured feel.
